PaperChain is pleased to announce the launch of its new website.
A revised website has been created to allow simple navigation for stakeholders with an interest in the recovered paper industry, and will aid PaperChain in its ongoing campaign to encourage positive recovery methods which support the long term sustainability of the paper and cardboard recycling industry.

PaperChain is unsurprised at the recent confirmation from Joan Ruddock, Minister of State for waste and climate change, that UK Materials Recovery Facilities (MRFs) are rejecting almost 10% of their input either at the MRF or recyclers gates.

PaperChain is pleased to announce its support for “Recycle Week 2008”.  The event, organised by WRAP in partnership with the leading materials recycling organisations, looks set to be the best yet.  With the focus of the campaign designed to stretch beyond the week long programme, there is a real chance to engage the public’s imagination in effective recycling opportunities.

For a number of years, PaperChain has led the debate on the UK’s need to build a quality management philosophy into its collection and sorting practices for recovered paper, in order to ensure long term sustainable recycling markets. This work has culminated in the production of a Publicly Available Specification (PAS) from the British Standards Institution (BSI).

It is with regret that PaperChain announces its withdrawal of support from the “2007 Recycle Now Week”. PaperChain has actively supported the event, previously called the “Big Recycle”, since its inception in 2004, but feels the campaign is failing to deliver a message that supports sustainable recycling.
