Local Authority and Reprocessors Round Table

Part of PaperChain’s remit is to develop and maintain a good working relationship with Local Authorities, councillors and waste-strategy decision makers.

As part of this ongoing liaison, PaperChain facilitates a forum called ‘The Local Authority & Reprocessors Round Table’, which usually meets twice a year. The Round Table has been meeting since 1995 and during this time a greater understanding between the two sectors has developed to the benefit of all concerned.

The Round Table is chaired by WRAP, and is attended by DEFRA, senior executives from the UK paper and board industry, Local Authority Recycling and Environmental Officers and Councillors.

At the meetings, presentations are given on the domestic and global recovered paper market. Events that impact on the markets are identified, explained and discussed.  The group works to identify the barriers to recycling and tries to agree ways of overcoming them.
